About
Stephen Suggs, M.D., FAHA, FAAN, is a neurologist with Grandview Medical Group. A native of Alexander City, AL, Dr. Suggs received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his internship and residency in neurology at UAB before going in to private practice for 19 years in Decatur, AL. He developed the first Primary Stroke Center to be certified in Alabama while in Decatur.
Prior to joining Grandview Medical Group, Dr. Suggs served as the medical director of the Neuro Hospitalist Program and the medical director of the Primary Stroke Center with Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, AL.
Dr. Suggs has a passion for stroke-related public health issues. He has worked with the Alabama Department of Public Health as the physician champion for the state’s stroke system. He also has a special interest in teleneurology for stroke care.
Dr. Suggs is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology.
