About
Scott Appell, M.D., specializes in total joint replacements such as anterior hip replacements, shoulder surgical intervention and arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip and knee. Dr. Appell is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and focuses his practice on performing total and partial revisions involving hardware as well as the treatment of pediatric and adult fractures.
Dr. Appell is highly committed to facilitating optimal outcomes for those patients who require either knee or hip replacement procedures.
Dr. Appell specializes in performing hip replacements using the anterior approach. As head of the advanced joint care program at Grandview Medical Center, Dr. Appell leads a modern patient and family teaching facility that provides educational pre-surgery joint classes, a dedicated inpatient unit, inpatient therapy services and outpatient therapy services.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from The University of Florida, Dr. Appell continued his education at The University of Florida Medical School where he ranked in the top percentile of his class. Dr. Appell then attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine where he completed his general surgery internship, orthopaedic surgery residency, and microvascular surgery residency.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Appell can be found spending time with his three daughters and enjoying days with his family. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and being outside in the beautiful weather.
