About
David G. Lemak, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with Grandview Medical Group. Dr. Lemak is fellowship-trained in sports medicine, and while he has cared for athletes from virtually every professional sport, he has a special interest in treating the unique injuries of mixed martial arts and professional boxing athletes.
Dr. Lemak's areas of specialty include:
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Joint reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow
- Joint resurfacing
- Injury assessment, prevention and management

A native of Birmingham, Dr. Lemak is a graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham.
Dr. Lemak lives in Homewood with his wife Sara and their children David, Jr. and Sarah. In his free time he enjoys wake-surfing, racquetball, fishing and hiking with his two Neapolitan Mastiffs, Bella and Nina.
